Lungy is an immersive breathing app for stress, anxiety and sleep, developed by doctors using the latest breathwork research. The app guides you through interactive exercises while your phone’s microphone detects each breath, syncing nature-inspired visuals and soundscapes to help maintain focus. Over time, Lungy supports a consistent practice that can improve sleep, mood, energy and breathing capacity.
Lungy was born during the Covid pandemic from a simple insight: many patients with lung problems would procrastinate on their phones instead of practising their daily breathing exercises. The MVP included a library of exercises grouped into themes, a range of techniques and basic progress tracking.
The redesign included a dashboard that shifts throughout the day — from morning focus to evening wind down. A new Explore tab lets you browse by theme, technique or curated collections. Each exercise is fitted with a new Configuration screen that explains the format, techniques and benefits, with the option to customise.
The exercises are now supported with a learning hub full of videos and articles on stress, anxiety, and sleep. And progress tracking is expanded with cumulative stats, detailed post-exercise reports, and streaks that encourage you to keep making the most of Lungy.
On UI, we audited and refined the typography, colour palette and component set — consolidating conflicting patterns and setting guidelines in place. The result was a cleaner, more polished look that lets Lungy’s personality shine, rather than getting lost in clutter. A tokenised design system enabled us to prototype and ship features much faster. This laid the foundations for Lungy’s transition into virtual environments — with Lungy: Spaces joining the first cohort of apps launched on Apple Vision Pro. Lungy and Lungy: Spaces were both quickly in the Featured list on Apple’s App Store multiple times.
While Lungy emphasises mindfulness and wellness, the same technology is being extended into healthcare with Lungy Health — a sister app for people diagnosed with conditions like asthma or long Covid. It adds features such as trigger tracking (e.g. pollen or air quality) and symptom insights, while carrying forward Lungy’s approachable design in a more clinical context. The first release, focused on asthma management, is launching soon.
